Asha Sharma continues to set the tone, distancing herself from the previous Xbox era and her latest statements drive the point home. According to new information emerging from within Microsoft, Sharma has reportedly acknowledged to employees that many gamers are frustrated with the current state of Xbox and that the company needs to react quickly.
These words come amidst an internal reorganization of the division and just as Microsoft appears to be preparing a new era for the brand, with a greater focus on console, PC, and future platforms.
Xbox Aims to Reclaim Its Essence and Improve Console and PC Experience
- During a recent internal meeting, Sharma reportedly recognized that many users feel Xbox hasn’t evolved enough over the past few years, particularly in aspects related to console experience and PC integration.
Among the most discussed phrases is the intention to “restore the essence of Xbox,” as well as the need to “pay attention to every detail” to make the experience faster, simpler, and more appealing to gamers. The leadership has also reportedly explained that the new Xbox plan will be based on four main pillars:
- Hardware
- Games
- User Experience
- Services
All of this aligns with recent internal movements within Xbox, including changes in engineering, design, and platform teams, as well as the growing prominence of Project Helix as the company’s future bet.
For now, it remains to be seen how all this will translate into real novelties for users, although it’s clear that Microsoft wants to convey the sense that Xbox is refocusing on improving its core platform and regaining some of the lost trust within the community.
