Microsoft continues to work on the evolution of the Xbox user experience and has already begun to deploy a new update for members of the Xbox Insider program who are part of the Alpha ring. Although these new features are still in the testing phase, many of them will eventually make their way to all users in future system updates.
This time around, the company is focusing on improving access to game information, reducing wait times when updates are pending, and streamlining the management of the wish list. These changes, although subtle at first glance, aim to make daily console use much more comfortable.
These are the main new features of the new Xbox update
One of the most interesting additions affects Xbox 360 classics. From this version on, players will be able to access a new Game Hub directly from the card of any installed game from that generation. From there, it will be possible to quickly check achievement progress, captures made, and other relevant information without having to navigate through different menus.
- Additionally, Microsoft has improved the display of Xbox 360 achievements with new pop-up windows that show more detailed information from the player’s profile.
Another very useful new feature is coming for those who play through Xbox Game Pass. If a title needs to be updated before it can be played and is available on Xbox Cloud Gaming, it will no longer be necessary to wait for the download to finish. The console will allow starting the game directly from the cloud while the update downloads in the background, significantly reducing wait times. This option will also appear directly on the game’s card when it is being installed or updated.
- Microsoft has also simplified the management of the wish list. From now on, it will be possible to add both available games and future releases directly from the card of each title, making it much easier to save games you want to keep an eye on or buy later.
As with all versions of the Xbox Insider program, these features are currently in the testing phase and may receive adjustments before their final release. However, everything suggests that Microsoft will continue to focus on small improvements centered on the user experience, a strategy that has allowed introducing highly demanded new features by the community without the need for major interface redesigns over the past few months.
