Activision and Infinity Ward have officially unveiled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, one of the most anticipated installments in the series, which will feature a large-scale military conflict between North Korea and South Korea. The game is set to release on October 23, 2026, and will also mark the franchise’s modern debut on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The revelation comes with a new cinematic trailer and an in-depth interview published by Xbox Wire with several project leads, where many details about the single-player campaign are starting to emerge.
Modern Warfare 4 will bring war to Korea and put Price in a desperate situation
The new story will continue directly from the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023), with Captain Price being completely marked by his previous decisions and now acting in a much more unpredictable way as he continues his pursuit of Vladimir Makarov.
Infinity Ward assures that this time the campaign will have one of the largest global conflicts seen in the recent series, with scenarios spread across:
- North Korea and South Korea
- Paris
- New York
- other international locations
Additionally, the studio confirms a large number of new characters within the campaign. A significant part of the protagonism will fall on Korean soldiers and American marines trapped in the midst of war.
Among the new members are characters like Park, Jay, Cho, Moon, West, and Dunn, several of whom are forcibly recruited and forced to face a situation completely out of control.
Infinity Ward explains that the goal is to create more human and three-dimensional characters, moving away from simple military companions to turn them into important figures within the playable and emotional experience.
Narrative Director Jeff Negus also assures that this new version of Price will be different from any other seen before in Modern Warfare, especially after the events of the previous game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will arrive on October 23, 2026, for:
- Xbox Series
- Xbox PC
- Steam
- Battle.net
- PS5
- Nintendo Switch 2
It will also be compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing progress and purchase sharing between Xbox console and PC.
Pre-orders are now available on the Xbox Store and other digital platforms, while Activision has confirmed that it will offer more specific details about the Nintendo Switch 2 version during the summer.
