Over the past few days, I’ve read numerous comments suggesting that Forza Horizon 6 could have issues on portable PC devices, especially due to some compatibility warnings and potential CPU errors when launching the game.
Among recommendations to tweak advanced settings, limit frames, and reduce graphics quality, I expected to find a much more complicated experience on the new ROG Xbox Ally X. But after many hours of gaming, the reality has been completely different.
Forza Horizon 6 runs surprisingly well on the ROG Xbox Ally X
As soon as the game starts, a message occasionally appears indicating that the detected CPU is not officially supported. It’s the well-known AP101 error that’s already appearing on some portable Windows devices. However, simply clicking “skip” allows you to enter the game directly, and honestly, the experience has surprised me much more than I expected.
- I haven’t needed to make complex adjustments or tweak many graphics settings. I had read that it was almost mandatory to modify energy profiles or reduce visual options significantly to achieve stability, but in my case, the performance has been very solid from the start.
- I’ve been able to play long sessions exploring Japan, participating in events for extended periods, and moving freely around the map without unexpected closures or significant blockages. The only minor visual issue I’ve seen appears on some pre-race screens, especially when the camera rotates around the car before starting a test. Beyond that, the overall experience has been really good.
After over 8 hours of gaming on a portable device, the feeling that Forza Horizon 6 leaves is that Playground Games has achieved a much better optimization than many initially expected for this type of device.
Additionally, other ROG Xbox Ally X users are sharing similar experiences, commenting that the game runs surprisingly stable even using practically standard configurations within the ASUS and Xbox portable system.
