Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced continues to reveal new details about its changes compared to the original game and one of them is not going unnoticed among veteran players. Ubisoft has confirmed that one of the most memorable mechanics of the 2013 classic will disappear in this new version.
The decision directly affects the iconic hidden blades of Edward Kenway, which in the original game could be used as regular weapons during combat.
Ubisoft changes the functionality of hidden blades in Black Flag Resynced
- According to the developers themselves, in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, it will no longer be possible to equip the hidden blades as a primary weapon to fight directly against enemies.
Instead, their use will be completely contextual. Edward will only draw the hidden blades during stealthy assassinations or to execute special finishing animations when enemies are weakened in combat. The decision is said to have been made to reinforce the pirate identity of the game and give much more prominence to:
- Sabers
- Pistols
- Firearms
- Naval combat
Creative director Paul Fu explained that it didn’t make much sense to see Edward constantly fighting with small hidden blades when he had more suitable weapons for a pirate at his disposal. As often happens with this type of change in remakes, the community is already quite divided. Some believe it will help reinforce the atmosphere and combat style, while others consider that it eliminates part of the playable essence of the original.
