Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox will have a prominent presence at the Game Developers Conference 2026 (GDC) with its own event dedicated to video game creators. The company will host the Xbox Dev Summit for the first time, a day with several sessions designed to explain how the platform is evolving and what tools studios will have in the coming years.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 11 within the framework of the GDC and will feature several presentations focused on technology, development, and Xbox strategy. According to the Microsoft Game Dev team, the goal is to help studios prepare for what’s coming within the Xbox ecosystem.
Xbox Dev Summit at GDC 2026 will showcase the platform’s future vision
The main session of the event will be the Xbox Developer Summit Keynote, where Xbox’s VP of Next Gen, Jason Ronald, will discuss the vision that is shaping the future of the platform. During this presentation, Xbox’s plan to build a more flexible and connected ecosystem for creators and players will be addressed.
- The event program also includes several technical sessions focused on tools and technology. One of them will be “DirectX State of the Union 2026: DirectStorage and Beyond”, where improvements to DirectX 12, support for Zstandard in DirectStorage, as well as advances in ray tracing, shaders, machine learning integration, and new development tools will be explained.
- Another notable session will be “Press Start: Get Your PC Game Ready for Xbox in One Day”, which will show how studios can adapt their PC games to the Xbox ecosystem using tools like Partner Center and the GDK, which are now publicly available.
The event is part of Xbox’s official activities at GDC 2026 and will serve to showcase the next technical improvements and the platform’s future direction, especially at a time when Microsoft is continuing to expand its strategy to connect the Xbox and PC worlds even more.
