Over the past few hours, screenshots of PS5 and Xbox Series profiles have been circulating on social media, where GTA 6 appears as if it has already been played. The image has generated confusion and speculation, but the reality is much simpler: no one is playing the highly anticipated Rockstar title yet.
The game, which is scheduled for release in May 2026, is not available on any platform. What has been seen in activity histories is due to a technical error that some users have taken advantage of to generate noise on social media.
GTA 6 appears on PS5 and Xbox profiles due to a technical glitch
Grand Theft Auto VI has appeared in the “recently played” list on some accounts, even though the title is not actually accessible.
- On Xbox, the process is relatively simple: all it takes is starting a remote download from the mobile app if the product is listed in the database. The console downloads just a few KB, and although an error appears when trying to run it, the system still adds it to the recent history.
On PlayStation, the origin seems to be the discovery of the game’s internal ID within the PlayStation Store database. Some users have used this identifier to force the product to appear on their account, although without actual access to the game.
This is not a beta, nor early access, nor a playable leak. It’s simply a data management glitch on the platforms. For now, we’ll have to keep waiting until its official release.
