The release of Resident Evil Requiem has not gone unnoticed, but not exactly because of its content. On forums and social media, messages from players who claim to have not found physical copies in stores on the day of release are multiplying, especially on Xbox.

According to several testimonials published on Reddit, chains like Walmart, Best Buy, Target, or GameStop would have received very limited units, in some cases only to cover pre-orders. In certain regions, there were no physical copies available for Xbox, while on PS5 or Switch, the stock, although reduced, did arrive in stores.

There have also been cases of resale on eBay with prices well above the official price, something common when a physical release sells out. In parallel, the game is available digitally without issues, which reopens the debate between those who prefer to keep their discs and those who opt for the convenience of a digital license.

For now, neither Capcom nor the major chains have issued an official statement on distribution. Everything suggests that the physical format on Xbox may have had a more limited print run than usual. We’ll see if the stock is replenished in the coming days or if this release marks a more evident change in traditional distribution. For example, in stores like Amazon in Spain, the game is out of stock again.
