Satya Nadella has spoken out following the recent changes in the Microsoft Gaming leadership and has left a clear message of confidence in the new leadership. The head of Microsoft believes that Asha Sharma and Matt Booty form the perfect combination to lead the next stage of Xbox, combining experience in consumer products and in-depth knowledge of the gaming industry.

Nadella highlights Phil Spencer’s legacy in Xbox

In his message, the CEO also wanted to highlight the figure of Phil Spencer, whose retirement was already planned last year. Nadella recalls that Spencer has been linked to Microsoft for over 38 years, including 12 years leading the gaming division.

During that time, he helped transform the company’s strategy, expanding Xbox to PC, mobile, and cloud, almost tripling the size of the business and leading strategic acquisitions such as Activision Blizzard, ZeniMax, and Minecraft. Additionally, he emphasizes that he strengthened the internal culture in studios and platforms.

Nadella personally thanks him for his leadership and confirms that Spencer will continue to collaborate with Asha Sharma during the transition to ensure stability in this new stage. The message conveys continuity, recognition of the recent past, and confidence in the immediate future of Xbox under its new direction.
