During the days leading up to the latest State of Play, many fans took it for granted that Dante’s return was about to become official. However, the event ended and Devil May Cry 6 was nowhere to be found, leaving the community with more questions than answers.
The commotion began after several comments on social media and, especially, after Brian Hanford (V’s voice actor in Devil May Cry 5) reacted ambiguously to the rumors. His words were enough to spark expectations. Nevertheless, Capcom focused on other projects and made no mention of the saga.
When could Devil May Cry 6 be announced?
Although there’s no official confirmation, everything points to the project being a matter of time. Capcom has repeatedly stated its intention to boost its strongest franchises, and Devil May Cry 5 surpassed 11 million copies sold, solidifying itself as one of the company’s biggest successes in the last decade.
The current context also plays a role. For 2026, Capcom already has a packed calendar with heavy-hitting titles like Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Monster Hunter Stories 3, and Onimusha: Way of the Swords. From a strategic perspective, announcing another major project could dilute media and commercial attention.
That’s why the most likely scenario is that Devil May Cry 6 will be reserved for the second half of 2026, perhaps at a major summer event or even at The Game Awards. In that case, the release could be scheduled for 2027.
