The announcement of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 during the last State of Play raised a big question among fans: will the classic multiplayer modes return with this collection? The collection will allow playing historic titles outside of their original platform, but not all content will be present.
Now, Konami has cleared up the doubts through its official website and we already know exactly what to expect regarding online play.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 will not include all original online modes
According to the company, multiplayer modes will not be available in all titles in the collection. In the case of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, the legendary Metal Gear Online (MGO) will not be part of this edition, so only the main campaign can be enjoyed.
- There will also be no multiplayer in Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel, the spin-off originally released on Game Boy, which will arrive without its two-player mode.
The exception is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which will keep its cooperative mode, allowing to complete missions both alone and with other players. In the case of Nintendo Switch and its successor, the possibility of local play for up to six users is also mentioned.
For now, cross-platform play compatibility has not been confirmed. If there are no last-minute changes, Peace Walker’s online cooperative mode will be limited to players within the same ecosystem.
