Over the past few weeks, doubts have been circulating about the development status of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Its absence from recent major events has raised alarms, and many players have begun to wonder if the highly anticipated return of the Capcom saga has been pushed back to 2027.
Now, after a period of silence, the team itself has wanted to clarify the situation. And the answer is clear: no delay has been announced and the project is moving forward as planned.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword maintains its planned release for this year
Producer Akihito Kadowaki has shared a message on social media in which he assures that development is continuing normally and that the game’s completion is “in sight“, maintaining its planned release window for the end of this year.
In his post, Kadowaki acknowledges the fans’ impatience and says he also wants to show more details about the project, although he asks for a little more time before revealing important news. Additionally, he clarifies that his recent academic activity (teaching seminars on the game’s creative process) does not affect the development progress.
Everything suggests that the title’s absence from recent presentations is due to a communication strategy by Capcom, which is currently focusing on other upcoming releases. This does not imply changes to the roadmap of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, but simply a matter of promotional calendar.
For now, the return of the saga is still on track and without official signs of delay. We’ll have to wait for the next few months to learn more details, but the important thing is that it hasn’t been pushed back to 2027.
