Bad news for those who still enjoy the 2K arcade titles. The publisher has quietly updated the pages of two of its oldest games to confirm their removal from digital stores and the permanent shutdown of their online services a few months later.

The notice is already listed on the official listings and marks a clear calendar for those who want to buy them before they disappear or continue playing their multiplayer modes while they are still active.

Removal from stores and server shutdown

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 and WWE 2K Battlegrounds will no longer be available for purchase on February 20, 2026. From that date, they will not be available for purchase on any digital store, although those who already have them in their library will be able to continue downloading and playing.

The second milestone will arrive on July 9, 2026, when all multiplayer servers will be shut down. From then on, all online features will cease to function, leaving only offline modes available for current owners.

The notifications have been detected on the listings of Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, and although Nintendo Switch still does not show the notice on its eShop, everything suggests that the removal will also affect that version on the same dates.

Both games, published by 2K Games, are part of a more arcade-like phase within their respective franchises. With this decision, 2K continues to reduce the active catalog of old titles, so if you want to keep them, February 20 is the deadline to buy them.
