The Game Awards 2025 had a clear protagonist, leaving little room for the rest. As Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stole the spotlight and took home awards, other highly anticipated titles of the year went home empty-handed, and one of the teams that didn’t hide their discontent was Warhorse Studios, the developers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
The historical RPG was one of the most ambitious releases of 2025, and many took it for granted that it would receive at least some recognition. However, the ceremony ended without any awards for the Czech studio, something that didn’t go unnoticed by the team or part of the community.
Warhorse Studios jokes… but makes their frustration with the TGA 2025 clear
From the studio’s official X account, Warhorse publicly congratulated Sandfall Interactive with a sarcastic “GG, well played“, a message that many interpreted as a mix of sportsmanship and resignation. However, the tone escalated when the studio’s communications director was more direct and left a phrase that quickly went viral: “We’ve been robbed“.
Although the comment has an evident joking tone, it reflects a feeling shared by many fans of the game. The sweep of awards by a single title has reopened the debate about the distribution of recognition at the ceremony and whether productions like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 deserved a greater presence in the awards.
Despite everything, Warhorse didn’t make any direct criticism of the winning game or its developers. Instead, the reaction suggests a mix of pride in the work done and frustration at not receiving public recognition on a night that, for them, was clearly lacking. If it’s any consolation, we at Generación Xbox praised it with one of the highest scores of 2025, considering it one of the best Xbox RPGs.
