Capcom’s moves in recent years make it clear that the company wants to reclaim some of its most beloved catalog. After rescuing sagas like Onimusha or offering new opportunities to timeless classics, now a franchise that has been waiting for its turn is once again making noise. Clues are coming from several sources that point to Dead Rising preparing its return with a completely new project.
The most recent precedent was Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, a revision of the first game that worked very well among fans. Its developers hinted that it was an open door to continue expanding the series, and now it seems that this step could be closer than expected.
A new Dead Rising set in Hollywood, according to leaks
- Information points to Capcom having worked since 2023 on an unreleased installment under the codename “Rec”, centered again on Frank West. Sources suggest that the game would act as a direct continuation of the first title, maintaining the focus on the original story of the reporter, although this point is not completely confirmed and should be interpreted with caution.
The most striking change would be its location. The new zombie outbreak would take place in Hollywood, within a huge film studio complex turned into a closed space full of sets, traps, and challenges devised by an eccentric director.
This character would act as the main antagonist, obsessed with filming his “perfect movie” forcing Frank and other survivors to overcome increasingly extreme challenges. The presence of unbalanced figures (the usual psychopaths of the saga) would again be essential, including the director’s lieutenant with a bomb attached to his body and in charge of recording each situation.
For now, Capcom has not confirmed anything and everything known belongs to the realm of leaks. Even so, the idea of mixing a Hollywood studio with the chaos so characteristic of the franchise fits perfectly with the identity of Dead Rising.
