The situation is starting to become all too familiar. The ESRB, the age rating organization in the United States, has listed a PC version of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Kojima Productions and Sony have yet to announce it, but this move is exactly the same route the first game took.

The original Death Stranding first arrived on PC under the publication of 505 Games. Later, it made the jump to the Microsoft Store as part of the Xbox for PC ecosystem, and finally, it received a native version for Xbox Series, also courtesy of 505 Games. Now, the sequel seems to be repeating the same pattern point by point.

ESRB rating confirms the PC version exists

The listing appears under the M+ rating, a step prior to any official release. This is no minor leak: the ESRB only lists products that have already gone through their approval process.

This means the PC version is practically finished and ready for announcement. And if it follows the precedent, the next move would be:

1. Release on PC.

2. Later publication on the Microsoft Store, integrating into the Xbox for PC ecosystem.

3. Certification and development of a native version for Xbox Series, just like the first game.

What does this mean for Xbox players?

Everything points to this not being just a simple PC release:

• The pattern of the first game suggests that Death Stranding 2 will eventually make its way to Xbox Series X|S.
• 505 Games played a key role in that process, and although the publisher for the PC version has not been announced, the route is too similar to ignore. The roadmap already exists, it works, and it fits with what we’re seeing now.

When could it be announced?

The most likely moment is The Game Awards, on December 12th, where Kojima usually has a presence. If the strategy remains the same, the PC release could arrive in early 2026, and months later, begin its journey to Xbox.

A release with an impact beyond PlayStation
