The government has intensified the application of tariffs on countries like China, Vietnam, or India, which has increased the cost of components for many electronic devices. In practice, these costs are passed on to consumers, and now Microsoft’s consoles are once again affected.

Earlier this year, the company had already adjusted the price of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in the US as a response to this scenario. However, the pressure on the supply chain has forced the application of a new price increase that will take effect on October 3rd. For now, the increase only applies to consoles, excluding accessories like controllers and official headsets.

The impact of tariffs on Xbox Series X and Series S

According to information shared by Windows Central, this adjustment is due to changes in the macroeconomic environment, but everything points directly to US tariffs as the main trigger. Xbox consoles include storage components, chips, and electronic components that heavily rely on production in countries subject to these tariffs, which can range from 10% to 40% depending on the component.

The Xbox Series X will now cost: $649.99
