Hellraiser: Revival seeks to push the limit of violence and sexual content

The development head of Saber Interactive, Tim Willits, has made it clear that Hellraiser: Revival won’t be a conventional game. In his own words, the goal is to “go as far as we can, as far as the rule-makers will let us”, referring to the limits set by explicit violence and sexual content.

The proposal will put us in the shoes of Aidan, a man who risks everything to rescue his partner Sunny from the Labyrinth, a realm of torture and pleasure ruled by the iconic Cenobites. Although it draws inspiration from the universe of the first two movies in the saga, this installment will feature a standalone story that expands the world of Hellraiser in video games.

Clive Barker is involved in the development of Hellraiser: Revival

One of the most striking aspects is the direct supervision of Clive Barker, the original creator of Hellraiser. Executive producer Nenad Tomic has confirmed that the writer has collaborated in every step of the development, from character designs to world-building, to ensure that the project retains the dark and disturbing essence of the saga.

According to Tomic, the intention is to “bring the world of Hellraiser from the cinema to consoles with total fidelity”, which is great news for fans of cult horror. Saber Interactive aims to offer an intense, transgressive, and faithful experience to the cinematic legacy of the franchise.
