On September 1, 1995, the first Rayman was released, a game that would go on to make its mark on the platformer genre and become one of Ubisoft’s iconic characters. Today, three decades later, the French company is celebrating this anniversary, confirming that Ubisoft Milan and Ubisoft Montpellier are working together on the next chapter of the saga.
In a message to the community, brand producer Loic Gounon looked back on the character’s history and thanked fans for their support over the years. Additionally, he announced that in the coming months, unreleased materials related to the series will be shared: developer interviews, anecdotes, concept art, and more.
The new Rayman will be a large-scale project
Although Ubisoft is asking for patience and doesn’t expect to show new developments in the short term, what does seem clear is that the next Rayman is being developed as a triple-A title. The union of the Montpellier team, the original creators of the saga, and Milan, responsible for recent well-received projects, suggests that the future of the franchise is in good hands.
Rayman has had many adventures over the past 30 years, from classic 2D games to modern releases like Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, which revitalized the formula with great success. Now, the community is waiting to discover how the saga will evolve in this new era, and everything indicates that Ubisoft is betting big to bring the character back to its rightful place.
