The cancellation of Everwild left many players with a bitter taste a few weeks ago. The mysterious project from Rare, of which we only caught a glimpse, disappeared without Microsoft showing its true potential. However, the story of one of its main leaders continues to be linked to Xbox: Louise O’Connor has been appointed “Head of Office” at Xbox Game Studios.
The information comes from her LinkedIn profile, where she describes her new role as a task of driving connection, collaboration, and dynamism within Xbox Game Studios, supporting some of the most iconic teams and leaders in the industry. A position of great weight that reinforces the bond between internal studios and reflects the company’s trust in her experience.
A Rare veteran in a new challenge
Louise O’Connor began her career at Rare in 1999, and over two decades, she participated in some of the studio’s most important projects. From animation to production, her trajectory spans classics and new IPs, solidifying her as a key figure in the studio’s evolution.
This is, in fact, her first position outside of Rare within the gaming industry. And it’s not surprising that her path crosses again with that of Craig Duncan, current director of Xbox Game Studios and former head of Rare. A reunion at the top of Microsoft’s internal studios.
