Netflix has given the green light to the highly anticipated live-action series based on Assassin’s Creed, one of the most iconic universes in modern gaming. This new production, developed in collaboration with Ubisoft, will feature a completely original story while respecting the fundamental pillars of the saga.
The project will be headed by Roberto Patino (Westworld, Sons of Anarchy, DMZ) and David Wiener (Halo, Homecoming, The Killing), who will serve as creators, showrunners, and executive producers. Both are well-known names in high-budget television and have experience with complex and drama-filled universes.
Assassin’s Creed on Netflix: Official Live-Action Series in Development
The series will be a high-voltage thriller centered on the conflict between two opposing factions: one seeking to manipulate the course of humanity by controlling the past, and the other fighting to preserve individual freedom. All of this will be achieved through time travel linked to key moments in history.
The premise maintains the spirit of Ubisoft’s franchise, exploring the eternal conflict between assassins and templars, but now with a narrative focus designed for television. As confirmed, the story will follow several characters across different historical eras, allowing for an ambitious deployment of locations, costumes, and parallel plots.
Margaret Boykin, head of content at Ubisoft Film & Television, has stated that the goal is to “speak to the hearts of Assassin’s Creed fans” while introducing the universe to a new global audience. The agreement with Netflix aims to build a series that can sustain itself over time, possibly as an episodic franchise or in seasons with independent stories.
For now, there is no concrete release date, and no cast members have been announced, but everything indicates that production is already underway. You can check out Ubisoft’s official post on their Spanish website.
