The policy of physical releases on Xbox has been under scrutiny lately. Many players have criticized that important titles like Indiana Jones or DOOM: The Dark Ages require large downloads despite being purchased in physical format (or upcoming titles like Ninja Gaiden 4 or The Outer Worlds 2). However, a new release from Activision under the Xbox banner has caught attention for doing the opposite.
A Reddit user has shared their experience with an advance copy of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, which is set to release on July 11th. According to the user, the Xbox Series X edition includes all game content on the disc, meaning that no internet connection is required to play.
The Xbox Series X version runs without patches or initial downloads
The player claims to have been “surprised” to find that the disc works directly without the need for updates or additional data installation from the internet. This contrasts with other recent releases that, even in physical format, only include a minimal portion of the game on the disc.
The post also indicates that the Xbox One version does require a download, suggesting that this complete physical edition is exclusive to Xbox Series X. While Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is not part of the Bethesda line, it is part of Microsoft’s own titles following the acquisition of Activision.
Although it may seem like a minor detail, many Xbox fans are celebrating this type of decision that supports the preservation of physical format. In an era where more and more titles rely on servers and constant patches, finding a complete game on disc is almost a rarity.
Soooo Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 is actually on the disc.
