Microsoft has been giving away codes for Gears of War Reloaded on Xbox over the past few days. These aren’t beta codes, but rather codes for the final game. It’s true that if you already owned the previous Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, you get this version for free, but there are many people who didn’t buy that game and don’t have or want Game Pass.
That’s why the news today is that even if you’re not going to play it via Game Pass or didn’t purchase the previous game, you might still get a free copy of the game from the folks at Redmond. To find out if you’ve been gifted a copy, simply check your inbox for messages in both the Xbox app and the Xbox console dashboard.
About Gears of War Reloaded
Gears of War: Reloaded is the second remastering of the 2006 classic original, and the first time the franchise has come to PlayStation platforms. Developed by The Coalition, Sumo Digital, and Disbelief, and published by Xbox Game Studios, this title aims to celebrate one of the most iconic gaming franchises, offering a definitive experience of the game that started it all. The release is scheduled for August 26, 2025, and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), and PlayStation 5, as well as launching day one on Xbox Game Pass.
This new version has been rebuilt for modern consoles, offering 4K resolution and 60 frames per second in the campaign, with support for up to 120 FPS in multiplayer modes. It also features significant visual enhancements, including remastered textures, lighting, shadows, and reflections, as well as HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos compatibility. A notable aspect is that there will be no loading screens during the campaign, contributing to a more fluid immersion.
Additionally, Gears of War: Reloaded will include all the downloadable and post-launch content from Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, such as an additional campaign act, multiplayer maps, and a wide range of characters and cosmetics.
