Xbox is already setting its sights on its new generation of hardware, which will arrive starting in 2026. This has been reaffirmed by Sarah Bond, president of the division, during an interview with Variety, in which she announced that the new systems are in the design and prototyping phase, in collaboration with AMD.
According to Bond, the goal is to continue the line of innovation marked by Xbox Series, but betting on a more advanced architecture and new forms of play. “We have our next hardware in development. We’re already working on prototypes and design. We’ve announced a collaboration with AMD to make it a reality“, she explained.
The new Xbox era: console, portable, and ecosystem expansion
The executive also highlighted that the arrival of the ROG Xbox Ally X, developed in conjunction with ASUS, does not mean the abandonment of traditional consoles, but rather an expansion of the Xbox ecosystem into the portable format. “What we saw was an opportunity to innovate in a different way and offer more options to the player“, she noted.
Xbox is betting on a hybrid model that combines innovation, power, and flexibility for players.
Bond made it clear that Xbox seeks to give users the freedom to play wherever and however they want, while maintaining its commitment to the home console, at the same time reinforcing its presence in mobile gaming and cloud gaming. “When players ask for innovation, we build it“, she emphasized.
With this strategy, Xbox is aiming for a hybrid future that will combine portable devices, next-generation consoles, and total integration with the Xbox Game Pass ecosystem and cloud gaming. Everything indicates that 2026 will mark a new turning point for the green brand.
