Microsoft continues to shape what will be its next generation of consoles, and this time it has been Jason Ronald, Vice President of Xbox Gaming Devices & Ecosystem, who has made interesting statements about the direction of hardware and the opening of the Xbox ecosystem to new forms of play.
While the company itself talks about possible changes in Xbox Cloud Gaming with new subscription plans, Ronald wanted to focus the discussion on the physical console and its technological evolution. His words anticipate an Xbox that will not only be more powerful but also expand its horizons to other platforms and digital stores.
Xbox Next Gen with Steam, dedicated chip, and artificial intelligence
The executive emphasized that one of the main objectives of the new machine will be the integration of external services such as Steam and other digital stores, so that players can access their libraries without the limitations of a single ecosystem. In his words, the future involves “building a unified platform that works on multiple devices and services”, bringing Xbox even closer to the open model that the community has been demanding for years.
Additionally, Ronald revealed that Xbox Next Gen will feature a dedicated chip developed with AMD, specifically designed to enhance neural rendering and advanced artificial intelligence functions. This bet not only promises to improve the visual quality of games but also opens the door to new interactive experiences that transform the way we play.
New Xbox, maximum innovation
In Ronald’s own words, the team is “completely focused on hardware and silicon innovation, on how to overcome the limits of the current generation and ensure that access to video games is not restricted to a single device or store”.
The vision is clear: a more open, connected console, and prepared to take full advantage of emerging technologies. If Microsoft succeeds in fulfilling these promises, Xbox Next Gen could mark a turning point in the industry, redefining how and where we play in the coming years.
