Kick off a new week and, although that usually means getting back to routine, it’s also an excellent opportunity to find a good reason to fire up your console. The Xbox ecosystem once again becomes the perfect ally to make those long days more bearable, especially if you have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription.
This time, the focus is on one of the most influential sagas in the exploration and action genre: Castlevania. Its return serves as the perfect excuse to rediscover not only its legacy but also all those titles that have taken direct inspiration from its formula. Interconnected dungeons, abilities that unlock new paths, and challenging combat are part of the DNA that defined an entire generation.
Xbox Game Pass and the Best Games Inspired by Castlevania
With the spirit of Castlevania setting the pace, it’s the perfect time to dive into proposals that embrace that beloved metroidvania structure. From modern classics to reinterpretations with their own identity, the catalog offers options for all tastes. So, if you’re looking for action, exploration, and the thrill of discovering hidden secrets behind each acquired ability, this week you have the perfect plan without leaving Xbox Game Pass.
Monday with Twin Motion and Dead Cells
If you don’t know this game, you’re probably out of touch with reality. It’s a title inspired by what the Castlevania saga offers (according to its creators), but with a procedural world and plenty of action. Its developers are also in charge of the new Konami game.
Tuesday with Perfection: Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Ori is a rich experience, full of emotions, feelings, a magical world, and a captivating story, filled with action, threats, and a rare audiovisual delight, dressed with the best elements of the Konami series.
Wednesday with Hollow Knight: Silksong
A game that demands your attention from start to finish, with plenty of content and a challenge worthy of the best players. It’s not for everyone and stands alongside its first installment as one of the best Metroidvanias in recent memory.
Thursday with the Return of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Everyone complains about Ubisoft, but they don’t realize the talent and the works they’ve given us over the years. This return of Prince of Persia is a showcase of what they can do; it’s one of my favorite Metroidvanias, simply a delight to play.
Friday with One of the Best in its Class: Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition
The solitary king (sorry, Silkson), considered the best Metroidvania of the moment, with the permission of Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, an essential game.
My joy is shared with this list, a personal and heartfelt one for one of the sub-genres I enjoy the most. If you have any other Metroidvania game on Xbox Game Pass for the weekend, I can only say enjoy it to the fullest.
