The 2025 Tokyo Game Show is just around the corner and already has confirmation from several video game companies that will be part of the lineup for what is the largest video game convention in Japan and could be said to be in Asia in general, which is already a huge deal. Over 772 companies from 46 countries have been confirmed, with a total of 4,083 booths, a number that surpasses last year’s (3,252), marking a new record for the event.
On the official website of the event, it has already been confirmed that Microsoft will be present with what appears to be a wide variety of new Xbox titles and what could be a list of revelations, which would be very good for the brand at a time when disillusionment seems to be the norm. Square Enix, Capcom, Konami, Sega and Sony itself are other companies that will have their booth at this edition of the Tokyo Game Show that will begin on September 25th and will run until the 28th of that same month.
Hope for a New Direction
Microsoft had one of the best presentations of the event at last year’s edition with many announcements that delighted gamers, especially fans of RPGs, although also of other genres. On that occasion, the arrival of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection, the appearance of Threads of Time, the inclusion of the Starcraft series in PC Game Pass and even some trailers of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake and Metaphor: ReFantazio, both highly acclaimed games that year, were announced.
The company’s outlook during this presentation is very different from that opportunity due to the recent wave of layoffs that has affected the Xbox teams, in addition to the cancellations that have also been confirmed these days. However, the arrival of Helldivers 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XVI may help to balance out the current bad run, perhaps some more surprises could help.
