Xbox has made official the return of Developer Direct, its presentation format focused exclusively on games and the people creating them. The event will take place on January 22nd, serving as a strong start to a key year for the brand, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Xbox.
As is customary in this format, there will be no intermediaries or generic trailers: the studios themselves will showcase gameplay, explain their design decisions, and delve into what’s coming to Xbox throughout 2026. This time, the event will combine historic franchises with a brand-new project from Japan.
Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation Headline the Developer Direct
The event will feature two games from Playground Games and a special visit to Japan with one of the country’s most renowned studios:
| Game | Studio | What to Expect |
|---|---|---|
| Fable | Playground Games | In-depth look with gameplay |
| Forza Horizon 6 | Playground Games | Gameplay debut and new features |
| Beast of Reincarnation | Game Freak | Detailed playable presentation |
- In the case of Fable, the team will show for the first time what the return to Albion looks like, with special attention to its decisions, tone, and characteristic humor. Forza Horizon 6 will showcase its open world set in Japan, with a first real look at driving and new playable ideas.
- Meanwhile, Beast of Reincarnation will allow us to get to know the proposal of Game Freak in detail, an action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, focused on combat, exploration, and the relationship between the protagonist Emma and her canine companion, Koo.
Developer Direct Schedule
The event can be followed live on Xbox’s official channels at the following times:
-
7:00 PM (Spanish mainland time)
-
12:00 PM (Mexico City time)
Xbox is thus betting on a clear and direct format, focused on showing games without frills and with real gameplay, setting the tone for one of the most important years in its recent history.
