Xbox continues to deliver on its promise of “play anywhere,” and this time it’s taking it a step further: the Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) service will be available in select cars thanks to a partnership with LG Electronics. With this collaboration, vehicles equipped with the webOS Automotive Content Platform will be able to access the Xbox app directly on their infotainment system.
This means that, while you’re waiting for a charge or accompanying a long trip as a passenger, you’ll be able to access Xbox Game Pass Ultimate titles on the vehicle’s screen. Games like Gears of War: Reloaded, Forza Horizon 5 or the upcoming The Outer Worlds 2 will be just a touch away, as long as you have a data connection in the car.
Xbox Cloud Gaming integrates with connected vehicles
The integration with LG will allow:
-
Access to hundreds of Game Pass Ultimate games from the Xbox app.
-
Playing titles already purchased in your digital library, such as Bugsnax, Don’t Starve, or Mafia: The Old Country.
-
Using a compatible Bluetooth controller to enjoy the full experience.
-
Converting the car into an entertainment hub, beyond music or movies.
Microsoft emphasizes that this feature complies with road safety regulations, as it is only intended for use when the vehicle is stationary or for passenger entertainment.
More ways to play, now also on the road
The partnership with LG expands the places where Xbox can be enjoyed, after its expansion to mobile devices, PC, and TVs. Now cars are also added to the list of devices compatible with the Xbox cloud, reinforcing the company’s vision of offering more freedom to players.
