The universe of Azeroth is on the verge of a historic leap. According to a report published by Windows Central, Blizzard and Microsoft are working together to bring their legendary title to the next Xbox console. This new machine will be compatible with the Battle.net app, allowing direct access to the game and managing the entire experience from the console without the need for a computer.
For years, references to possible controller support had been found within the game’s code, but it was never officially confirmed. Now, everything falls into place: recent updates have simplified classes, added automatic combat systems, and eliminated support for certain add-ons, something that fits perfectly with a console-focused adaptation.
World of Warcraft will arrive on the next Xbox with full Battle.net support
According to the report, the Blizzard team is preparing for the arrival of World of Warcraft along with its next expansion, Midnight, which could be released in March 2026, according to leaks found in the game’s files. Although there is no confirmed date, the clues point to the final patch being completed on March 9, leaving the door open for a global launch the next day.
The release will not only mark the first time the MMORPG sets foot on consoles, but also the arrival of a long-awaited feature on Xbox: “install any game that works on Windows”, according to the leaked information. This would allow playing PC titles like God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, or Spider-Man from the new console, in addition to World of Warcraft itself.
If confirmed, we would be facing a paradigm shift for the Xbox ecosystem, fully integrating the world of PC and consoles into a single platform.
