IO Interactive has confirmed a significant change in the release schedule of its highly anticipated James Bond game. The Danish studio has officially announced that 007 First Light will not arrive on the initially planned date and delays its release by two months, setting the new launch date for May 27, 2026.
The announcement was made through a statement signed by Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, where the team explains that the decision is due to the project’s ambition and the need to dedicate more time to final adjustments before its market release.
007 First Light is delayed to ensure quality from day one
According to IO Interactive, the game is already completely playable from start to finish, but these additional two months will allow for refinement of the experience and improvement of the overall finish. The studio defines 007 First Light as its most ambitious project to date, with a proposal that combines action, espionage, gadgets, chases, and international scenarios characteristic of the James Bond universe.
- IO Interactive points out that, as an independent developer and publisher, this extra margin gives them the necessary peace of mind to meet player expectations at launch. The team is confident that this schedule adjustment will lay a solid foundation for the game’s future and appreciates the patience and support received since its official presentation.
The studio has also announced that there will be more information and news about 007 First Light in early 2026, which suggests new details, materials, or advances before its definitive arrival on consoles and PC.
