Xbox has announced today one of the most significant updates for its ecosystem on PC and handheld devices with Windows 11. From now on, players will be able to access their unified gaming library, which includes titles installed from different stores like Xbox Game Pass, Battle.net, and other PC launchers. Everything, centralized in the Xbox app for PC and gaming handhelds.
Additionally, the company has confirmed that this feature will be accompanied soon by another major innovation: the ability to check and recover gaming history and cloud-playable titles from any device. In practice, this will allow for immediate game resumption regardless of whether you’re coming from your Xbox console, laptop, or desktop PC.
Unified Library and Integrated Apps
- With the new “My Library” tab, users will automatically see their installed games from any compatible storefront. The “My Apps” section is also added, grouping direct access to third-party stores and other game-related applications, eliminating the need to jump between desktops or multiple launchers.
Those seeking a cleaner experience will be able to customize the view by disabling stores they don’t want to display, adjusting the application to their own use.
The Next Step: Gaming History and Cloud Games
- Microsoft has also announced that by the end of September, players will see their cloud gaming history and game history synchronized across console, PC, and handheld devices. Simply accessing the “Play Again” list on the home screen will allow continuation from the same point on any platform.
The Most Important Features
-
Unified Library: all your installed games appear in one place, including Xbox Game Pass, Battle.net, and other PC stores.
-
Automatic Integration: when installing a game from a compatible storefront, it’s directly added to “My Library” in the Xbox app.
-
“My Apps” Section: direct access to third-party applications and stores from within the Xbox app, without switching desktops.
-
Library Customization: you can hide stores or titles you don’t want to display to keep the application clean and organized.
-
Synchronized Gaming History: soon you’ll be able to continue your games on any device with the “Play Again” list.
-
Cloud Compatibility: the “Cloud Playable” filter will show which titles are playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
-
Cross-Platform Compatibility: the integration is designed for both Windows 11 PCs and gaming handhelds.
-
Community Feedback: these features are born from suggestions by Insiders and Xbox players.
-
Increased Speed and Convenience: one click to relaunch your latest games, without searching through multiple launchers.
-
Availability: the update is already underway, with history and cloud features arriving by the end of September.
With these changes, Xbox continues to strengthen its commitment to a unified experience, one of its main goals since the beginning of the generation. An integration that promises to make life easier for those with games spread across multiple services and devices.
