The annual event dedicated to Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic universe has served for much more than celebrating the classics of the saga. Among announcements like the Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition or the special bundle for the 15th anniversary of New Vegas, there has been room to talk about the future of the franchise and its next steps within the studio.
Todd Howard, executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios, closed the Fallout Day with a pre-recorded intervention in which he hinted that the studio is not only working on a direct sequel, but also on other projects set in this beloved universe.
Fallout 5 and new projects are already underway at Bethesda
Howard explained that “there is more than one Fallout-related project in development”, thus confirming that the future of the saga is not limited to Fallout 5. Without offering specific details, his words point to the possibility of remasters, remakes, or spin-offs that expand the post-nuclear world beyond what we knew in Fallout 4 and New Vegas.
The reference to the plural has sparked speculation about collaborations with other Microsoft studios or even the return to iconic areas of the past. With this announcement, Bethesda makes it clear that the franchise is experiencing a new creative boost and that its universe will continue to grow over the next few years, combining nostalgia and new stories within the wasteland.
