It’s a shame that in recent weeks, we’ve only talked about Microsoft for the grotesque spectacle they’ve given us with the massive layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations. Americans no longer hesitate to give bad or terrible news any day of the week. It seems like there’s no one at the wheel in the communications and marketing division.
Sadly, as I said, the cancellation of games has left us with a pretty agonizing panorama within the Xbox Game Studios organization. We don’t really know the volume of unannounced games that have been canceled, but we do know which ones are already out of the game.
It’s not the only studio with a poor portfolio now
The thing is, if you take a look at Zenimax’s website, you’ll see that now there’s only a reference to The Elder Scrolls Online, and nothing more. The studio had several IPs in development and now none of that is active. If we compare the image before the catastrophe, we can see how they alluded to those projects they were working on.
In fact, to be more specific, only one of those projects do we know was new, the rest seem to have been existing or known franchises. This is how they looked before and now the “Our Games” section of their website.
In fact, Zenimax was working (and I hope it continues to do so) supporting other studios within Bethesda. This wasn’t mentioned in the old version of their website, but it’s something we knew was happening because it’s something common in the industry.
