If you’re a fan of Dark Souls and use Gmail from your browser, there’s an extension that’s starting to gain a lot of attention for its simple yet effective idea. It’s a Chrome extension that transforms the email sending confirmation into a notification inspired directly by the FromSoftware saga.
The proposal has gained popularity in a very short time thanks to its recognizable aesthetic and the nod that any player will identify instantly.
How the Dark Souls extension for Gmail works
We’re talking about Gmail Email Sent, an extension designed exclusively for the web version of Gmail. Its function is very specific: modifying the message that appears when sending an email. Instead of the usual notice, the user is presented with a large on-screen message that displays the text “Email Sent” accompanied by a sound effect and a visual style clearly inspired by Dark Souls.
The result is reminiscent of the notice that appears after defeating a boss, with similar typography and colors (in this case, yellow, not red), reinforcing the feeling of “mission accomplished” after sending an email. It doesn’t alter Gmail’s functionality or add extra features: everything focuses on the visual impact and the nod to video game culture.
In just a few hours, the extension has already been installed on thousands of devices, demonstrating that sometimes a small aesthetic detail is enough to turn a daily routine into something much more memorable. For Dark Souls fans, even sending an email can feel like a victory.
