Today is a special day for one of the pillars of the Japanese catalog on console. The Like a Dragon and Yakuza series celebrates two decades of history, marking a key moment for both Sega and the players who have accompanied the saga since its first steps in Japan. To celebrate, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has released three updated games that are now available on Xbox Series.
In addition to reviewing its trajectory, the studio has wanted to set the course for the next few years and confirm that its next big project is just around the corner. Among memories, anecdotes, and reflections on how this saga has grown in the West, its leaders make it clear that this anniversary is just the beginning of a new era.
New games available today on Xbox Series
- The celebration arrives with three titles ready to download on Xbox Series: Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2, all with quality of life improvements and support for new languages. The revised edition of Yakuza 0 incorporates additional scenes, an online cooperative mode, a new English dub, and more localization options. It even recovers Bubble, the musical theme that was missing from the original Western version.
- Meanwhile, Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 offer updated versions with more languages and several restored songs for fans who want to relive Kazuma Kiryu’s first steps with material that was not previously available in the West. These are three important releases for those who want to get up to date with the future of the saga.
- What’s coming next in the series
The leaders of RGG Studio take advantage of this anniversary to highlight how the saga has grown outside of Japan and how the country’s culture remains at the heart of these stories. The team recalls that Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will arrive on February 12, 2026, and that it is a project in which they have taken special care to respect the original while transforming it into something more ambitious.
Sega also drops that they are already working on subsequent projects, maintaining the essence that has made the saga unique: living cities, charismatic characters, and that particular portrait of Japan that has conquered players from all over the world. A message that reinforces the idea that the next few years will be especially relevant for the franchise.
