Over the past few months, the name of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has repeatedly come up in conversations and leaks, despite being a game that’s been on the market for over a decade. Now, a new financial report has once again sparked rumors of a possible new DLC, which would not only expand the RPG experience but also potentially serve as a direct bridge to The Witcher 4.
According to a recent analysis by Noble Securities, shared by analyst Strefa Inwestorów, CD Projekt has significantly revised its plans and budgets for the coming years. This adjustment would include the release of a major downloadable content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt scheduled for May 2026, with a clearly strategic focus.
A DLC as a prelude to the future of the saga
- The report suggests that this supposed DLC would have a key narrative function, acting as a link between the events of The Witcher 3 and the next major chapter in the saga, with Ciri as the protagonist. If confirmed, it would be a move designed to rekindle public interest, drive additional sales, and get the promotional machinery rolling ahead of the next big launch in the franchise.
According to these forecasts, The Witcher 4 is currently slated for the fourth quarter of 2027, with a development and marketing budget significantly higher than previously estimated. CD Projekt’s ambition would be to make it one of the major benchmarks for open-world RPGs, competing head-to-head with the heavyweights of the next-gen AAA landscape.
Cautious optimism, but expectations are high
For now, there is no official confirmation from the Polish studio, and it’s wise to treat this information with caution. However, the repetition of rumors from the financial sector (beyond the classic “insider”) is fueling the expectations of many players, especially considering the prolonged support that The Witcher 3 has received over the years.
