The universe of the undead continues to grow on Xbox. Saber Interactive has confirmed an official crossover between World War Z and The Walking Dead that will arrive next month on the popular cooperative shooter available on Xbox Game Pass. This is a new downloadable content focused on action and survival, set directly in the world of the AMC series.
This new content adds a completely new campaign episode, divided into three different stories, and starring some of the most recognizable characters from the TV franchise. The goal is clear: to offer a more intense experience, with hand-to-hand combat and constant pressure against hordes of enemies.
Everything included in World War Z x The Walking Dead
The DLC introduces three new story chapters, set in locations very familiar to fans of the series:
-
The Prison
-
The Alexandria Safe Zone
-
The Grady Memorial Hospital
These scenarios will be accompanied by four playable survivors: Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Michonne, and Negan, with the original voices of Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus reprising their roles.
In terms of gameplay, the content adds important novelties:
-
Two new melee weapons
-
Michonne’s Katana
-
Negan’s “Lucille” Bat
-
-
Two new weapon designs
-
Rick’s Revolver
-
Daryl’s Crossbow
-
-
Zekes Transformation
The classic World War Z enemies now adopt the behavior of the Walkers, slower but just as deadly. -
New special enemy: Spike Walker
A more resistant variant, immune to melee combat until it’s knocked down, which requires coordinated attacks to eliminate it quickly before it gets back up.
World War Z is currently available on all levels of Xbox Game Pass, from Essential to Ultimate, allowing access to the base game without additional cost. For now, the price of the DLC has not been confirmed, although everything suggests it will be a premium independent content, with more details expected before its release in January 2026.
