After a decade marked by games with their own personality, such as Stories Untold and Observation, the development team formerly known as No Code has decided to take a step forward: from now on, it will be called SCREEN BURN.
The studio, based in Glasgow, is currently collaborating with Konami and Annapurna Interactive on the highly anticipated Silent Hill: Townfall, and has made it clear that this change of identity will not affect its ongoing projects.
SCREEN BURN is the new name of the studio behind Silent Hill: Townfall
Founded in 2015 as a small team of two, No Code has grown into a consolidated studio with specialists from all profiles. “We’re not who we were in 2015,” explains Jon McKellan, creative director. “Now we have coders, yes, but also a different vision of what our identity represents.”
The new name, SCREEN BURN, refers to the residual effect of an image burned into an old tube screen, a metaphor for what they aim to achieve with their games: leaving a lasting impression on the player’s mind. This approach, based on the unsettling, the analog, and the emotional, will continue to be present in Silent Hill: Townfall, which remains in development in collaboration with KONAMI and with no changes planned for its production.
The studio has promised that more information will be coming soon, maintaining the secrecy that has surrounded the project since its announcement. For now, what is clear is that SCREEN BURN’s new era maintains its commitment to the strange, the evocative, and the unforgettable.
