The wait is over: ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are now available worldwide, officially arriving in over 45 countries with expansion plans in the coming months. Both portable consoles, developed in collaboration between ASUS, AMD, and Xbox, combine the freedom of Windows with the complete Xbox ecosystem experience, allowing players to enjoy console or PC titles anywhere.
Roanne Sones, corporate vice president of Xbox, highlighted that Microsoft’s goal is to “make the time players choose to spend with us more fluid, flexible, and fun than ever“. With these portables, users can access their digital library, progress, achievements, and friends, whether playing locally, from the cloud, or streaming from their Xbox console.
A new era for portable gaming on Xbox
As soon as the console is turned on, players will find an interface adapted to a portable format, with grips inspired by the Xbox controller and the new Xbox Full Screen Experience, designed to offer comfort and familiarity. Additionally, Microsoft has incorporated the Gaming Copilot (Beta) assistant, which provides help and recommendations with just a press of the library button.
- The first recommended games from the Handheld Compatibility program include titles like Gears of War: Reloaded, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Hollow Knight: Silksong.
- Purchasing an Xbox Ally also includes three months of Xbox Game Pass Premium or PC Game Pass, offering over 200 games available in the cloud or for direct download.
In the coming weeks, Xbox will add new features like Default Game Profiles to balance performance and battery life, and in early 2026, advanced features like Auto Super Resolution (Auto SR) and improvements to the dock mode of the Ally X will arrive.
