The name of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is back on the table. According to a well-known Asian leaker, PlatinumGames is working on a new version of the action title starring Raiden, originally released in 2013 in collaboration with Konami. For now, there is no official confirmation, but the rumor has rekindled interest in one of the most peculiar spin-offs of the saga created by Hideo Kojima.
The information comes from the same source that already anticipated internal movements related to other projects of the Japanese studio. Although it’s wise to remain cautious, the truth is that the name of this game has been sounding for a while every time there’s talk of possible returns within the Metal Gear universe.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance could return with a revamped version
According to the leak, we wouldn’t be facing a simple remaster, but rather “something more than a remaster, but less than a full remake”. This description reminds us of projects like Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, where the original base is maintained but with deep improvements in graphics, animations, and systems.
The game celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2023, and since then, PlatinumGames has dropped some ambiguous hints about the affection the studio still has for the project. However, there is no official announcement from either PlatinumGames or Konami. For now, everything falls into the realm of rumor.
We’ll have to see if this supposed remake ends up materializing or if it stays as just another leak. What’s clear is that the interest in seeing Raiden return with his frenetic katana combat is still very much alive among players.
