Kazutoyo Maehiro is in charge of directing the popular remake of the title based on the Final Fantasy saga and also had a role in the original production when the game arrived on PlayStation in 1997. In an interview, Maehiro confirmed that the original game’s source code is no longer available because it was overwritten, something that, apparently, was a common practice at the time.
This new version of the game will have the particularity of including both the classic and an improved version of the same title.

According to Maehiro, they couldn’t even use an emulator to recreate the original version, since this method didn’t allow the development team to make any improvements to the game, so after analyzing several ideas, they opted for a path that would allow the title to be updated without straying too far from what the original version proposed.
The game’s remake is one of the most anticipated for Final Fantasy fans, especially for those who lean more towards tactical RPGs. According to the developer, the game will arrive on September 30th on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and other platforms.
