Recent internal movements at Ubisoft continue to have visible consequences on their release schedule. Following the cancellation of several projects and the postponement of many others, it appears that the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has also seen its initial release plans altered.

Although the title has not been officially presented, various reports indicate that the game was ready for a near release window, but was ultimately postponed as part of the company’s new strategy.

According to leaked information, Ubisoft had planned to release the remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag on March 19th, also opting for a digital-only distribution. However, the change in priorities within the group would have led to delaying the project, along with other developments that needed more time for adjustments.

The general feeling is that Ubisoft had planned a strong start to the year with several consecutive remakes, starting with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and continuing with Black Flag. The internal reorganization and complete review of their roadmap would have forced them to halt this strategy.

Looking to the future, the company has made it clear that its main focus will be on Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six, franchises that they intend to consolidate as long-term economic pillars. In this context, the remake of Black Flag remains on the table, but now without a clear release date and awaiting Ubisoft’s official announcement on when this anticipated revision will set sail again for current consoles, including Xbox Series.
