The announcement of Halo: Campaign Evolved continues to generate reactions among veterans of the saga. On this occasion, Marcus Lehto, one of the original creators of Halo: Combat Evolved, has shared his impressions after seeing the new trailer for the remake developed by Halo Studios under Unreal Engine 5.
Through his social media, Lehto expressed a mix of emotion and nostalgia when seeing how this modern reinterpretation of the classic Xbox game released in 2001 looks:
My honest impression of seeing the new Halo Campaign Evolved is this: I love where this is going. The game looks and feels authentic. It’s gorgeous, in a way I wish we could have created it originally in 2001. It warms my heart to see Halo CE like this.
A vision approved by its original creator
Lehto’s words have been received with enthusiasm by the community, which sees his approval as a seal of legitimacy for this remake. His opinion is especially relevant, since the designer was a key figure in Bungie during the development of the original Halo and contributed directly to defining its artistic and narrative identity.
Halo: Campaign Evolved promises to revive that foundational experience with a completely renewed approach: 4K graphics, new prequel missions, four-player cooperative, and an expanded arsenal that combines classic and modern weapons from the saga.
Its release is scheduled for 2026, with availability from day one on Xbox Game Pass and full compatibility with Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
I absolutely love where this is going. The game looks and feels genuine. It’s gorgeous in a way I wish we could have built it originally back in 2001. It warms my heart to see Halo CE like this. https://t.co/OXFK8rc719
