No Rest For The Wicked is one of those titles that sparks interest simply because it comes from the studio behind Ori and the Blind Forest. The action RPG has been available in early access on PC for a few months, but its console release is still not entirely set in stone… at least for Xbox.
In a recent message posted on the game’s official Discord server, Thomas Mahler, CEO of Moon Studios, acknowledged that due to “current market conditions,” his team is considering releasing the game only on PS5 and possibly on Switch 2. A statement that, naturally, has sparked concern among Xbox users.
The Xbox release is still on the table, but without a clear date
Although it was announced in 2023 that No Rest For The Wicked would come to Xbox Series, everything indicates that plan has cooled down. Mahler himself explained that they will have to talk directly with Microsoft to see what makes sense for releasing the game on the platform right now, suggesting that the Xbox version is not ruled out, but not confirmed either.
“We’ll have to discuss it with Microsoft to see what makes sense for Xbox,” the executive commented.
Since then, some sectors of the community have reacted as if the project had been canceled on Xbox, although Moon Studios’ own words point in the opposite direction: there is intention to release it, but they’re not committing to a release window just yet.
Let’s remember that No Rest For The Wicked offers an action RPG experience with challenging combat, detailed exploration, and a handcrafted world full of secrets and challenges. Given Moon Studios’ legacy, there’s no doubt that many Xbox users will want to enjoy this proposal… even if it means waiting a bit longer.
