Rumors about new content for The Witcher 3 are gaining strength again. After months of speculation, a new report suggests that the veteran CD Projekt RED game could receive a expansion set in a completely new region, which would significantly expand its already massive open world.
Although there is no official confirmation yet, the information coincides with previous leaks that place this supposed DLC in May 2026, which would explain why the project has been kept silent for so long.
The new DLC for The Witcher 3 would be set in Zerrikania
According to a report published by IGN Poland, the expansion would take players to Zerrikania, a desert region in the Witcher universe known for its exotic fauna, distinct culture, and a very different environment from what has been seen so far in the series. The description would fit with a more arid and dangerous experience, almost with a “desert” focus, unusual in the series.
- Zerrikania is not an unknown territory for the most attentive fans. In Blood and Wine, there was already a reference to the Manticore School, located in this region, and both in the books and games, there are recurring mentions of its inhabitants and traditions. These clues have been fueling theories about a possible future visit for years.
- Some speculations even point out that this expansion could delve deeper into Ciri’s role, exploring her possible connection to the region and her evolution as a character before the events of The Witcher 4. However, this point clearly enters the realm of conjecture.
It’s worth emphasizing caution: information about this DLC has been circulating for years and has never been confirmed by CD Projekt RED. Nevertheless, the fact that media like IGN Poland have decided to reveal these details now puts The Witcher 3 back at the center of the conversation… even more than a decade after its release.
