After announcing significant changes to the expedition system, ARC Raiders is once again looking to its community to bring back one of the most celebrated content since its arrival. The extraction shooter is preparing the return of a special event that many players have been missing since the beginning of the year.
This is Cold Wave, a temporary mode that debuted during the past winter and was removed in January. Its absence did not go unnoticed, and after weeks of comments and requests, the development team has officially confirmed its return in February.
The Cold Wave event returns to ARC Raiders as a rotating mode
The Embark Studios has confirmed that Cold Wave will be available again starting Tuesday, February 10, 2026, integrating as one of the game’s rotating modes. This means that players will be able to access the snowy versions of the maps during specific time slots, usually active for an hour.
The particularity of this event lies in its gameplay approach. The snowy scenarios not only change the visual aspect of the map but also introduce an additional survival mechanic. Staying too long in the open air causes the character to start freezing, losing health progressively until being eliminated if no shelter is sought.
This constant pressure forces players to plan each incursion with more care, alternating exploration and loot hunting with strategic stops to warm up. An approach that many players consider one of the most interesting additions that ARC Raiders has received since its launch and which now returns to bring variety to regular matches.
The return of Cold Wave reinforces the idea that the team is still adjusting the game’s content based on community feedback, betting on temporary modes that alter the usual rhythm of expeditions.
