Xbox continues to advance in its cross-platform integration, and the July 2025 update brings a particularly useful improvement for those who play indifferently on console and PC. With this new version of the system, a feature has been enabled that allows resuming a game right where you left off, regardless of the device you access it from.
The idea is clear: to offer a seamless experience that allows you to continue playing without worrying about transfers, installations, or manual synchronization. If you started a game on your Xbox Series or Xbox One, you can now resume it from the Xbox app on PC or browser with just one click, taking advantage of cross-device history and cloud gaming.
Synchronized Game History and Direct Access from the Cloud
Thanks to the new cross-device game history, the Xbox app interface for PC now shows your recently started games on console, even if they’re not installed on the device. If those titles are compatible with cloud gaming, the system will display a direct access button to resume them instantly from the exact point where you closed the session.
- This includes Xbox Game Pass titles, digitally purchased games, or games previously installed on console. Additionally, access to these cloud games has been optimized, with more visible buttons, faster loading times, and suggestions based on your actual usage history.
The best part is that no configuration is required: if you use the same Xbox account, your history and progress are automatically synchronized, making it easy to switch devices without interruptions. This improvement also benefits those who use the cloud from browsers, tablets, or mobile devices, maintaining a uniform experience.
- This novelty is part of Xbox’s strategy to consolidate its “play anywhere” proposal, which gradually blurs the lines between hardware and access to games. Additionally, it is expected that in future updates, the compatibility of this history will be expanded to include other elements such as achievements or personalized follow-up lists.
