DOOM: The Dark Ages still has a few tricks up its sleeve. Although the base game is already on the market, id Software is working on an expansion that, according to its own officials, will be much larger than usual. In fact, the studio is talking about content that could feel “almost like a sequel”.
The statements come from the Slayers Club Live, where the game’s director, Hugo Martin, revealed that the DLC is growing to massive proportions. It’s not just a simple addition of missions: the intention is to offer a new playable approach that transforms the way we approach combat.
DOOM: The Dark Ages will add a Lance with a different combat style
The main novelty will be a new weapon called the Lance, which will introduce a distinct gameplay cycle compared to the main title. According to Martin, this tool will allow players to combine evasion and attack in a more technical way, forcing them to adapt and master new dynamics. No specific details have been given, but the team assures that it will significantly change the experience once its full potential is unlocked.
In addition, the expansion will reinforce the ambientation and background, with more contextual information and elements that expand the game’s universe. id Software insists that the new abilities will be challenging, but very satisfying when mastered.
The story DLC will be included in the Premium Edition of the game, while those who have the standard version will be able to access it through a digital upgrade. The full official presentation will take a little longer to arrive, but everything points to this content significantly expanding the original proposal.
