During an interview with GQ Magazine for the tenth anniversary of Fallout 4, Todd Howard confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is now a central project for Bethesda. The creative explained that the game is “a daily task” and that “its development is moving forward steadily“, although several years are still needed for its release.
The director also hinted that Bethesda is developing other projects in parallel, without giving details. These statements coincide with rumors about a possible remaster of Fallout 3, mentioned in leaked Xbox documents a few years ago, although there is no official confirmation yet.
Internal testing and a release that will still take time
We have hundreds of people working on Fallout, both on 76 and other things we’re doing, but The Elder Scrolls 6 is what we have in mind every day, Howard explained.
Additionally, Howard dropped the possibility of a surprise launch similar to that of Oblivion Remastered, which was released by surprise in April.
I like to announce things and launch them. My perfect version would be that time passes and, suddenly, the game appears.
Bethesda’s future continues to expand
With Starfield already established and Fallout experiencing a second youth thanks to its series and new updates, Bethesda is facing a key stage. The Elder Scrolls 6 will be its next big release, and Howard’s words make it clear that the studio hasn’t stopped for a single day.
In the meantime, fans will have to keep waiting, with the certainty that the return to Tamriel is being shaped step by step… although there is still a long journey ahead.
